Balm of Gilead & Wild Harvested Resins
A jar of the forest’s finest medicine. Our Winter Woods Balm is built around our seasonal Balm of Gilead infusion—buds hand-picked in the depths of winter and slow-steeped to extract their natural salicin and aromatic resins. This "heavy-duty" salve is designed for those who work with their hands and live for the outdoors. It provides a deep, warming comfort to stiff joints and creates a protective, honey-scented seal over dry, hardworking skin.
Handcrafted with wild-harvested Balm of Gilead buds. Our Winter Woods balm provides deep relief for sore joints and protects dry, cracked skin. 100% botanical.
Winter Woods Restorative Balm
-
The True Scent of the High Forest: Even without essential oils, the slow-infused Balm of Gilead resin smells deeply complex—a rich, comforting blend of wild vanilla, warm amber, and fresh poplar buds that grounds the senses.
-
The "Velvet Glove" Finish: Thanks to the precise addition of luxury plant butters, this balm melts on skin contact but dries down to a rich, velvety matte finish. It protects your skin without leaving a greasy, wet residue on your clothes or linens.
-
The Ultimate Winter Weather Defense: Designed specifically for split knuckles, raw windburned cheeks, and dry, cracked winter skin. It acts like an invisible, insulating glove against harsh, freezing elements.
-
A Time-Tested Folklore Legend: Infused with true Balm of Gilead resin—a botanical historically revered by ancient healers and Highland wildcrafters alike for its almost miraculous ability to soothe cold, aching skin tissue.
-
Use this ritual as a daily shield before stepping out into biting winds or freezing rain. The beeswax forms a physical barrier that deflects the cold, while the Balm of Gilead keeps local tissue feeling comforted, warm, and resilient against the elements.
This balm is highly concentrated and packed with active tree resins. A little goes an incredibly long way, making the application an act of deliberate, warming self-care.
1.Awaken the resin: The Warm Up.
Using the back of your thumbnail, scoop a small, half-penny-sized amount of the dense golden balm. Place it into the center of your palm. Rub your hands together vigorously for 5 to 10 seconds. The friction and heat of your skin will instantly melt the beeswax and release the trapped, sweet vanilla-balsamic aroma of the Balm of Gilead.
2.Inhale the glen: The Sensory Pause.
Before applying, cup your warmed hands over your nose and mouth. Close your eyes and take three deep, slow belly breaths. Allow the grounding, wild amber notes of the poplar buds (and the crisp, sharp notes of Scotch Pine and Black Spruce, if blended) to clear your mind and transport you to a quiet, snow-blanketed Highland forest.
3.Press and protect: The Deep Application.
Press your warm, oiled palms directly onto areas seeking deep restoration—weather-beaten cheeks, chapped knuckles, split fingertips, or dry winter elbows. Massage using slow, firm, circular strokes, pushing the balm deeply into the skin folds.
4.Seal the barrier: The Overnight Shield.
For severely cracked skin or split knuckles, apply a generous layer right before bed. Slip on a pair of clean cotton gloves or socks to trap the heat, allowing the salicylate-rich poplar resins to repair your skin barrier undisturbed while you sleep.
balm of Gilead infused sunflower oil, beeswax, shea butter, vitamin E, scotch pine & copaiba essential oils
-
The Salicylate Powerhouse (Balm of Gilead): Poplar buds are naturally packed with salicin and populin—the lipophilic (oil-soluble) botanical precursors to modern soothing agents. When warm-infused into oil, these resins act directly on the skin to subdue deep winter throbbing, reduce intense redness, and accelerate tissue repair.
-
Antioxidant Resin Preservation: Resins are naturally heavy and sticky. The 0.5 oz of Vitamin E Oil acts as a powerful antioxidant, preventing the delicate fatty acids in your carrier oils from oxidizing while protecting fragile, broken skin from ambient environmental stressors.
-
The Breathable Moisture Lock: Local yellow beeswax forms a semi-occlusive, flexible barrier over the skin. It traps the skin’s own moisture underneath to force rapid healing while still letting the skin breathe, preventing the cellular suffocation common with petroleum-based ointments.
-
The Active Forest Boost: If adding the essential oils, Copaiba brings a massive dose of beta-caryophyllene (a renowned skin-calming terpene) which works in perfect lockstep with the poplar resin, while Scotch Pine increases local circulation to bring warming, fresh blood flow to cold, stiff extremities.
-
Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water immediately after application. Avoid all contact with eyes, face, mucous membranes, or broken skin. Do not use if you have a known allergy or sensitivity to aspirin or salicylates. Keep out of reach of children.
